Some remodels are easy and some are extremely challenging. We're usually drawn to drastic renovations and spectacular transformations, projects which involve tearing down walls and building extensions. Today, however, we found a rather different project that we'd like to show you. It's an apartment located in Sao Paulo, Brazil which measures 100 square meters and was renovated by Diego Revollo Arquitetura in 2016. This is actually a loft and the remodel was pretty easy considering that there were no superfluous walls and no structural changes to be made.
But what is a loft without a mezzanine…Luckily this apartment already had one and the architects took advantage of that. They invested in elegant finishes and prioritized materials and functionality. The apartment features gray burnt cement walls and ceilings which give it a masculine allure and look nice in combination with the exposed pipes and brick pattern. To balance the decor, the architects introduced wood flooring throughout the spaces, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance.
Classic design and deep color tones anchor a home for new New Yorkers The move to New York from the West Coast landed Jeremy, an advertising executive, and Chris, a nurse managing an emergency department, in a 778 -square-foot co-op in the developing neighborhood of Hudson Yards. A "simple" tiling job that crumbled while living there led the couple to the bigger renovation that they had been saving up for. With each of their "must-haves" in mind, they posted their project on Sweeten , a free service matching renovators with vetted general contractors and found a Sweeten design-build firm. The result? Herringbone floors, an array of new custom millwork-and sound advice to share with future renovators. Guest blog post by Sweeten homeowner Jeremy A first-and obvious-lesson in renovating: it really is harder in New York. When my husband Chris and I embarked on this adventure, we had thought we knew what we were doing. After all, we'd undertaken a remodel of our 19...
Plants don't normally require a lot of care and are great to have around for numerous reasons. However, there's a problem. What will you do with your plants if you have to go away for a few days or more? They're like quiet pets which you can't take with you on trips and which have to be watered on a regular basis. The solution is quite simple: DIY self-watering planters . Yes there are quite a few fancy self-watering planters available in stores as well but they tend to be pretty expensive whereas these ones are super cheap and easy to make. A lot of the DIY self-watering planters on our list are made from recycled bottles. The tutorial from craftyourhappiness shows how you can make such a planter out of nothing but a plastic bottle and a piece of string. Cut the bottle into two sections, make a hole in the cap and run the string through, put a few stones and soil into the top section, add the plant and then place this upside down into the bottom half of the bottle whi...
